Temporary Assistant Registrar for Scheduling position that reports to the Registrar and is responsible for maintaining course information, course scheduling, managing academic space, classroom scheduling, and assisting with the coordination of the undergraduate catalog. Shares responsibility with Registrar Office staff to continually provide the best customer service to the entire Emerson Community including students, faculty, staff, alumni, and prospective students.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
- Responsible for ensuring the Fall, Spring, and some Winter and Summer course schedules are created and maintained in cooperation with the Academic Departments, Professional Studies, and Academic Affairs.
- Maintains course information (catalog descriptions, restrictions, prerequisites, and making sure online course listings appear accurately) using the Ellucian Banner SIS and curriculum and catalog management systems.
- Communicates with and trains academic and administrative staff about scheduling processes and special registration permissions.
- Coordinates with and trains Professional Studies, online programs, and external campus staff to ensure course offerings are accurate and ready for publishing and registration each semester.
- Creates new courses in coordination with the Registrar, Associate Registrars, Global Partners, and Education Abroad & Domestic Programs.
- Coordinates with Academic Affairs, academic departments, Business Services, Facilities, and other stakeholders about academic space needs for all course offerings.
- Independently executes the registration process for all undergraduate contract courses, including directed studies and projects, UG theses, production projects, Performing Arts practicals, and course audits.
- Works with the Director of Academic Advising to manage the seat-saving process for incoming students.
- Assists with phone and other customer services front-line work as needed.
- Oversees the updating and production of the Undergraduate College Catalogue and its posting on the web.
- Oversees non-course Academic Room scheduling requests via EMS.
- Assesses classrooms and advises on classroom needs and upgrades.
- Manages student course prerequisite compliance during registration and after final grades are submitted.
- Manages the priority registration process for the Performing Arts Department.
- Assists with various data cleanup and entry tasks relating to Workday Student implementation
- Completes special projects/reports and other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS – Qualifications are deemed required or preferred and represent what is needed to perform the job effectively.
- 4+ years of experience with scheduling in a registrar’s office or an academic department setting.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of the Ellucian Banner system, EMS Campus, and registration or scheduling systems.
- Experience working with academic departments on course and space management.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES
- This position is generally sedentary; movement throughout the area is required from time to time.
- Continuous oral and written communication with prospective students and families, co-workers, and supervisors is essential.
- Repetitive movements, occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds, reaching, lifting, stooping, and the ability to read a computer screen, detect color-coding, and read fine print will be expected.

Compensation for this position ranges from $62,600 to $76,700 annually, prorated for the length of this assignment.
This position requires an in-person presence on the Boston Campus during the work week.
