Vice President, Advisor Oversight
The Role
The Advisor Oversight Team partners closely with Fidelity's investment management teams and key stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks associated with the engagement of external investment managers within Fidelity products. The Advisor Oversight Program covers a breadth of asset classes and product structures. The team is looking to add a Vice President to lead the Strategic Advisers Fund Sub-Advisory and SMA programs for public market asset classes. Reporting to the Head of Advisor Oversight, the Vice President, Advisor Oversight will be responsible for the following activities:
- Lead and develop best-in-class manager due diligence and oversight programs
- Seek continuous improvement of the program through the assessment of portfolio manager needs, industry best practices, and process improvement opportunities.
- Chair cross-functional management oversight committees for key program reporting and decision-making. Partners include: Investment Management, Compliance, Legal, Treasurer's Office, Product, and Operations.
- Manage a team responsible for initial and ongoing operational due diligence and oversight for third-party, public market strategies within Fidelity products and funds.
- Team responsibilities include:
- Lead initial operational due diligence with potential investment advisors to evaluate their control environments and perform a thorough operational risk assessment of the firm and products under consideration.
- Conduct ongoing monitoring activities to identify any material risks across the investment advisors and products, which include, but not limited to, preparing manager scorecards and managing ad hoc events
- Preparation of reports and presentations to senior management and oversight boards.
- Resource planning and budgeting
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
- Direct experience with public market asset classes and products
- Knowledge of regulatory environments, including the 1940 Act, preferred
- Experience leading cross-functional, complex programs
- Operational Due Diligence experience at a bank, asset allocator, fund of funds, or other investment platform is preferred
- Background in investment accounting/audit, compliance, or risk management at a financial institution
- Strong program management, team leadership, and people skills
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy, and strong organizational and problem-solving skills; ability to understand complex issues.
- Ability to succeed in a deadline-driven, high-visibility environment
- Experience working collaboratively with business, distribution, service providers, Risk, Legal, and Compliance teams
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
The Team
The Advisor Oversight Team partners closely with Fidelity's investment management teams and key stakeholders to identify and manage risks associated with the engagement of external advisers within Fidelity investment products. The Advisor Oversight Program covers a breadth of asset classes including public markets and illiquid alternatives. The team provides support and oversight for Fidelity's products, including registered mutuals funds, private funds, and separate accounts. The team interacts frequently with Fidelity portfolio management teams and product development groups, as well as, Fidelity control partners, including Legal, Treasurer's Office, Compliance, and Operations.
