Vice President and General Manager, Ground Systems & Services (GSS) will lead BAE Systems Space and Mission Systems' (SMS) GSS Strategic Business Unit (SBU) which includes responsibility for program execution of ground systems development programs, operations & sustainment (O&S) programs and programs which provide engineering and scientific research services, analyst services and other technical services for customers. The role also includes leading all GSS customer focused initiatives to realize profitable long-term business growth. All of these responsibilities aim to satisfy the objectives and goals of the operating and strategic business plans of SMS and BAE Systems, Inc. This position reports to the President of BAE Systems SMS.
The Ground Systems & Services (GSS) Strategic Business Unit is responsible for driving business growth in the ground systems development, operations & sustainment, and technical services markets. This business unit focuses on designing, building and integrating ground systems in support of air and space-based assets, providing operational support for mission platforms and instruments and offering scientific and engineering expertise to our customers.
What You'll Do:
On-Site Work Environment: The preferred location for this position is Broomfield, Colorado. However, candidates that wish to reside in a non-Colorado location will be considered with the right skills and experience for the role. If in Colorado, this position requires regular in-person engagement by working four days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.

What You'll Do:
- Serve as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT); ability to demonstrate a First Team mindset - prioritizing support of fellow leaders and building trusting relationships with the ELT is the top leadership priority.
- Drive organic growth of GSS business through development and implementation of growth strategies aligned with the BAE Systems SMS Integrated Business Plan.
- Partner with GSS customers and stakeholders to achieve mission priorities and define next-generation capabilities.
- Lead a team of diverse professionals fostering engagement within an inclusive work environment.
- Lead the professional development of the GSS staff and provide appropriate growth opportunities and mentoring.
- Manage successful execution of the GSS business, delivering profitable portfolio performance and efficient operations.
- Guide high priority business pursuits from assessment through proposal. Provide overall direction for all aspects of the pursuit, capture and proposal execution.
- Work collaboratively with the BAE Systems SMS Strategic Business Units (SBUs) and Strategic Capabilities Units (SCUs) to achieve business objectives across organizations in alignment with the Strategic Plan.
- Participate in the development of strategic planning, analysis, and decision making for expansion and growth of BAE Systems SMS. Recommend objectives and long-range plans to achieve growth and financial profitability of the overall company.
- Ensure that all business is conducted using the highest ethical standards and in compliance with all applicable laws, statutes, regulations, company directives; live the company's core values of uncompromising integrity, being close to its customers, behaving like owners, focusing on attention to detail, and being innovative.
- Interface with BAE Systems executives relative to GSS's integration into the corporate structure and to ensure synergy across the corporation enabling pursuit of new business.
- Perform such individual assignments as directed; and maintain the professional competence, knowledge, and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.

Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.
- BS/BA in related field plus 15 years or more related experience.
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- 10+ years of experiencing working with US Government contracting or related organizations.
- A current, active TS/SCI security clearance is required.
- A solid understanding of GSS mission and operations with relevant industry and government relationships.
- Excellent communication skills to support interfaces with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to effectively interact with customers and governmental figures at the highest levels.
